Straight-tube superheaters.-A gas-fired steam generator enclosing a gas producer consists of a jacket G to the lower part of which heated water is delivered from a coil M within the outer casing, and a series of horizontal tubes N, arranged in the intervening space which constitutes the combustion chamber. Water and saturated steam from the top of the jacket are passed through the tubes N and superheated on their way to the steam chamber O. The tubes N are connected to vertical headers N<1>, N<2>, which open above into the steam chamber and are connected at their lower ends by pipes n with the top of the jacket.
