Apparatus for supplying water to a dental drill at the same pressure as its air supply comprises a pipeline 9 through which flows water from a pressurized source via a filter 6 and a non-return valve 5 into a water heater 1 from which water is taken for a tumbler (pipe 10), a dental syringe (not shown) and the drill (pipe 11). Air flows through pipe 14 to the drill and to one side of a pressure regulator 2 via pipe 15. In the regulator, the air acts on a movable membrane, e.g. a diaphragm or the like to produce an equivalent pressure in the water supply on the other side of the diaphragm downstream of the non-return valve 5. The apparatus described with reference to Fig. 2 (not shown) is modified by the addition of a pneumatic 3-way control valve (3) in the air line, one branch of which connects with the pressure regulator. Suitable regulators are depicted in Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the movable membrane being a piston in the first and a diaphragm in the second.
