Abstract

1,215,673. Laminated strip. CEE BEE MFG. CO. Inc. 22 April, 1969 [22 April, 1968], No. 20513/69. Heading B5N. A laminated strip comprises a strip of transparent polymeric material bonded to one surface of a polyethylene terephthalate strip having on its other surface a thin metal coating (e.g. Al) to which is bonded a base strip of polymeric material. The transparent and base strips may comprise polyethylene or polypropylene with or without a minor amount of polybutadiene but devoid of plasticizer, or a vinyl polymer such as vinyl acetate/vinyl chloride copolymer optionally mixed with polybutadiene. Both strips may be bonded to the terephthalate strip by vinyl adhesive. Alternatively, the laminated strip may be made by extruding the base strip, compressing the metal coated terephthalate strip between the base and transparent strips and cooling the laminate. The transparent strip may also be formed by extrusion. The base strip may be grooved or otherwise recessed and the laminated strip may be curved and may have beaded edges. The laminated strip may be serrated, embossed or wholly or partly punched through and is used for decorative purposes.
