Abstract

1314638 Laminated strip STANDARD PRODUCTS CO 14 June 1971 [10 Aug 1970] 27837/71 Heading B5N [Also in Division B6] A decorative trim strip comprises a plastics body A; a transparent polyethylene terephthalate film 2 bonded directly to the plastics body and having a decorative coating 4 on the surface facing the body, the film upon exposure to ultra-violet light tending to cloud and obscure visibility of the decorative coating; and a plastics film C bonded to the other surface of the polyethylene terephthalate film, the said plastics film having ultra-violet light shielding characteristics to shield the polyethylene terephthalate film from ultra-violet light. The plastics body A may itself be decorative and may comprise a pigmented vinyl film. The film 2, which may be dyed, may be bonded to the body A by adhesive or heat-sealing and may be provided in the form of a laminate with a vapour-deposited metal coating e.g. of aluminium forming the decorative coating 4. The protective film may be a polyvinyl fluoride, an acrylic resin or polyvinyl chloride and may be bonded by heat and pressure or an adhesive. In a preferred embodiment, the undersurface of the body may be provided with a pressure-sensitive adhesive coating protected by a removable paper strip. The plastics body may be folded round to envelope the edges of the films.
