Abstract

A water impermeable film or sheet 14 of a polymeric film-forming material such as polyethylene on the upper surface of a roof deck 11, which may be a concrete slab, is covered by a layer 16 of a closed-cell water-impermeable cellular thermal insulation having on its upper surface a protective layer 19. The protective layer may comprise a mixture of sand and cement modified by the addition of an acrylic resin, or may be provided by paving stones or tiling. The thermal insulation may comprise closed cell cellular plastic foam or foam glass.
