Abstract

919,247. Bridges. ALLIED CHEMICAL CORPORATION. Aug. 29, 1961 [Sept. 30, 1960], No. 31134/61. Class 20 (1). A bridge having a concrete deck exposed to the elements on its upper and lower sides has a layer ¢ to 3 inches thick of cellular plastics material, preferably urethane foam, having a density of about 1 to 8 1b. per cubic foot bonded to the underside of the concrete deck. Preformed slabs of the material may be bonded to the deck using an elastomeric or polymeric adhesive or the liquid reactants are sprayed on to the deck and form a self-adhering urethane foam on striking the concrete.
