Abstract

1,214,999. Controlling yarn tension during sizing. LEESONA Ltd. 18 March, 1968 [23 March, 1967], No. 13712/68. Headings D1E and D1M. In a sizing machine rollers 10 draw yarns Y from a number of beams 11 whose let-offs are controlled by electro magnetic clutches the yams from each beam passing around separate rollers 12, connected to a strain gauges 13, whose signals are used to apply a set starting torque to the individual clutches and the combined sheet of yarns pass around a second roller 16, connected to a strain gauge 18, whose signal is fed to all of the clutches to vary the torque, as the beams diminish, to maintain constant tension. Each beam 11 has a flange 19 with a ruffle 19a having a recess into which fits the driving peg 23 of an adaptor 20 whose square pike 21 fits into a clutch 27 connected to the electromagnetic clutch 100-101.
