Abstract

1,213,927. Dummy shuttle loom. RUTI MACHINERY WORKS Ltd. 30 April, 1969 [30 April, 1968], No. 22125/69. Heading D1E. The invention rotates to the winding device of Specification 931,711 for supplying coils of weft sufficient for one pick 'to the dummy shuttles of a travelling ware loom. According to the invention, the blade 31 on which the flyer 32 winds coils of weft 35 is held stationary by two retaining means acting alternately, the change from one to the other being effected to allow a coil 35 to be slid along the blade by a pusher 41. As shown in Fig. 4, a plunger 66 having a forked end engages the edge of the blade; when it is retracted to allow a coil of weft 42 to pass, a dummy shuttle being pushed out of a magazine 30 onto a coil of weft 43 serves as the other retaining means. Various other designs are shown, including two plungers pressing on a flat side of the blade near its edges; or a spring strip 84, Fig. 7, operating near the free end of the blade 45 and having a finger 86 resting against the blade and another finger 85 entering a hole in the blade to prevent the coil of weft (43, Fig. 4) from sliding off prematurely. In another form, weft is wound on a cylindrical former instead of on a flat blade; two plungers engaging diametrically opposite dimples in the former act as one retaining means and the pusher 41 passing through a diametrical slot acts as the other. A similar arrangement employs a former of oval section having a slot for the pusher 41 through its major axis; two plungers gripping the former between them to act as the other retaining means. The devices may be used to measure weft for a jet loom.
