Abstract
121,353. Ford, A. E. Dec. 14, 1917. Collapsible vessels.-In a strut or stretcher made in two or more hinged parts c, d, Figs. 1 and 2, for use in a folding or collapsible boat, the end of the tongue e on one of the parts and the bottom of the corresponding recess in the other part, also the recesses at the base of the tongue and the tops of the fork f, are stepped or inclined to correspond with one another so that the parts support one another longitudinally and laterally, thus reducing the stress on the hingepin. The parts may be locked in their extended position by a pin i. The two parts c<10>, d<10>, Fig. 12, are halved at their ends and pivoted together by a pin g, the parts being maintained in their extended position by a cord or wire p passing through holes o, n in the strut. The parts c<11>, d<11>, Fig. 14, of a strut in a 'boat such as is described in Specification 118,128 engage at one end in a recess s<1> in the stretcher s, and at the other end with the gunwale stiffener r, the parts being held extended by a cord p<2> passing around the stiffener and beneath the stretcher.
