A burner for hydrocarbon fuels such as propane, butane, propylene, butylene and mixtures thereof has a slot-shaped nozzle 5 into the tip of which is inserted a corrugated brass strip 6 forming a number of closely spaced passages for the gas dimensioned so that the mean width of any passage is not greater than the minimum quench distance of the fuel gas/air mixture.
