Abstract

1,213,016. Rifle grenades. HECKLER & KOCH G.m.b.H. 14 Feb., 1968 [14 Feb., 1967], No. 7240/68. Heading F3A. A rifle grenade comprises a tubular attachment 2 for placing on the barrel of a rifle and a bullet collecting member 8 of solid material disposed in a smooth bore at a spacing from a braking device 6, the bullet collecting member being long enough to embed and intercept the bullet from the rifle and be displaced together with the bullet into engagement with the braking device where the collecting member and bullet are stopped. The braking device is in the form of a tapered bore and deforms fins 11 provided on the collecting member. The collecting member is formed of mild steel and is secured in the smooth bore by welds 9 or pins which are sheared by impact of the bullet. Recesses in the collecting member permit local fracture of the member under the impact of the bullet. In a modification the braking device is comprised by springs.
