In a headlamp unit according to the parent Specification the reflector has an outer peripheral edge portion which is parallel to the axis of the headlamp and is embedded in jointing material disposed in a groove defined on one side by the rearwardly extending shoulder of the lens and on the other side by a separate annular element, preferably made of rust-resistant steel, located inside the unit. In an alternative construction the groove is defined on the inner side by an inwardly projecting shoulder of the lens and the reflector terminates in a radial peripheral edge portion the radially inner side of which bears against the shoulder and the radially outer side of which is embedded in the jointing material.
