Abstract

1,187,967. Moulding sealing rings. PRECISION RUBBERS Ltd. 6 June, 1967 [6 June, 1966], No. 25007/66. Heading B5A. [Also in Division F2] An 0-ring 12, Fig. 6, 17, Fig. 7, of elastomeric material is reinforced by a metal ring 9 which is embedded therein and has at least one spoke 18, 19, Fig. 7, which projects through the O-ring and serves to locate it in use. The 0-ring is made by moulding or extruding a ring 1, Fig. 3, with a groove 6 therein, inserting the ring 9 in the groove and then moulding and vulcanizing the assembly to mould and vulcanize the elastomeric material around the ring 9. As shown in Fig. 7, the ring 17 is provided with two radially outwardly projecting spokes 18, 19, which may be integral with the ring 9 or welded or otherwise secured thereto. Alternatively the spokes may project radially inwardly or may extend axially as shown dotted at 20, 21.
