Abstract

1,211,470. Cartons. AKERLUND & RAUSING AB. 4 Nov., 1968 [15 Nov., 1967], No. 52137/68. Heading B8P. In a container comprising a carton having a deep-drawn plastics lining 9, the carton is formed from a carton blank having a bottom panel 1, side panels 2, 3, 4 and 5, and a corresponding number of end flaps 6 on certain of said side panels, each of which end flaps are narrower in width than the height of the respective side wall and spaced from the joint line between the said side panel and the bottom panel. The flaps are also spaced from the free edges of the side panels. On deep-drawing of a plastics lining by applying vacuum through blank slots 10, the narrow endflaps form bulges or pockets 8 in the lining and interlock therewith whilst permitting the applied vacuum to act in the container corners. The blank may be provided with a heat sealable coating, such as a polyvinyl chloride/polyvinyl acetate copolymer, over the whole blank or to some of the side walls with or without application to the flaps to which coating the lining adheres. The container may be provided with wafer-like lid consisting of plastics on its inner side at least and heat selable to a flange 7 formed during moulding. Alternatively, the lid may be formed by a lid panel on one or other of the side panels 3 and 5.
