Abstract

1296183 Forming containers AKERLUND & RAUSING AB 19 April 1971 [13 Feb 1970] 21584/71 Headings B5A and B5N [Also in Division B8] A container is made by placing a blank of packaging material 20 into a mould an deep drawing a lining material 21 into the mould, the lining 21 and the blank 20 each being provided on their mating faces with a layer of plastics material 23, 24 these layers being bonded together during deep drawing of the lining 21 into the mould having the blank 20 disposed therein. The plastics layers suitably comprises a polyolefin e.g. polyethylene and the layer 23 attached to the lining 21 prior to deep drawing thereof is preferably thinner than the other layer 24 on the blank 20. The plastics layers may: be applied as a dispersion or may be directly extruded. The lining material may be a polyvinylchloride or polystyrene. In one embodiment the blank 1 consists of four label like portions 2 and a bottom portion 3 which when deep drawn with the plastics lining leaves the exposed area 5 which are preferably stiffened by providing the mould with a pattern e.g. knurling. The outer free edge of the corner sections of the carton blank may be provided with slots (17) terminated by transverse slots (18), these slots opening when the cartons are stacked thereby preventing a wedging action.
