Abstract

1,108,660. Tray-like container and lid; packages. O. W. CHRISTENSSON. 14 March, 1967, No. 11815/67. Headings B8C and B8P. A package intended for foodstuffs comprises a tray-like container fitted with a lid, the container having gussets which are unsecured in the folded-up container, the latter being maintained erect by insertion of the top edges of the sides and gussets in a channel (33), Figs. 3, 4 (not shown) provided around the circumference of the lid, the resiliency of the material causing the container to splay out to form a dish when the lid is removed. As described, the lid is formed by deep-drawing plastics over the filled container while the latter is held in a mould. Several containers may be covered by a continuous web which is later severed. To allow escape of steam during cooking, a small hole (39) is provided in the lid, which is subsequently covered with a disc (40) and sealed with adhesive tape (41), Fig. 4, or a plug. To facilitate removal of the lid, a tab (38) is integrally formed,at one corner of the lid.
