Abstract

1,210,910. Tunnel kilns. KELLER OFENBAU G.m.b.H. 15 July, 1969 [5 Sept., 1968], No. 35505/69. Heading F4B. A tunnel kiln 1, of low profile, for firing bricks 4, carried on trolleys 3 has the gaps between its suspended roof 5 and its side walls 6 bridged by bricks 8, projections 8a, 8b of the bricks 8 fitting on to and into the roof and side walls respectively. The bridging bricks 8 extend downwards to close to the upper surfaces of the kiln trolleys to reduce gas flow from the kiln interior towards the kiln side walls through the gaps 11 between the trolleys and the bridging bricks. A shoulder 13 on each bridging brick may depend into a groove 14 on the upper face of the trolley.
