1,209,984. Indium recovery. PHILIPS ELECTRONICS & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 23 Sept., 1968 [26 Sept., 1967], No. 45112/68. Heading C1A. Indium is recovered as indium hydroxide from a gaseous mixture containing a hydrolysable indium compound by scrubbing the gaseous mixture with water in a wet scrubber to convert the indium compound to the hydroxide, the gaseous mixture being mixed with gaseous NH 3 immediately prior to or on admission to the wet scrubber, the pH of the aqueous suspension being maintained above and separating the indium hydroxide from the suspension. This method is particularly used for waste gases which are liberated in the manufacture of heat-reflecting filters based on indium sesquioxide. The process may be carried out in a whirl-washer type scrubber (see Division B1).
