Abstract
1320199 Hydrogen chloride S EZAKI 15 Sept 1970 [25 Feb 1970] 43936/70 Heading C1A Hydrogen chloride is produced by (a) burning an organo chlorine compound (e.g. a waste gas stream), (b) injecting the combustion gas obtained in (a) into an extracting agent solution which may contain H 2 SO 4 or CaCl 2 simultaneously to cool the gas and concentrate the solution, (c) contacting the gas from (b) with water to give dilute HCl having a concentration below the azeotropic composition and (d) concentrating the dilute HCl from (c) by extractive distillation using the concentrated extracting agent from (b) to obtain HCl or HCl acid having a concentration above the azeotropic composition and a water diluted extracting agent solution which is recycled to (b).
