1,209,885. Laminated wallpaper. D. BROCKHAUS and K. DANIEL, [trading as PICKHARDT & SIEBERT, TAPETENFABRIK]. 29 Jan., 1969 [15 Feb., 1968], No. 4926/69. Heading B5N. A washable wallpaper comprises a printed or embossed first web of paper which consists of a waterproof material or is at least provided with a waterproof coating on its surface serving as the front of the wallpaper, and a second web of paper which is connected to the first web by an adhesive which is insensitive to moisture-and insures that both webs will remain firmly attached to a wall but permits the first web to be subsequently pulled easily off the second web by rupturing the adhesive. Specified adhesives are a plastics dispersion or emulsion either with or without softening agents or wetting agents, a mixture of a plastics dispersion or emulsion and natural adhesives, natural products or their derivatives, e.g. starch, casein or cellulose derivatives, which are rendered insoluble in water by means of bifunctional aldehydes, and a thermoplastic when in the liquid condition. An adhesion-reducing agent may be included with the natural products or derivatives. The adhesive may also comprise a synthetic resin in a solvent phase with or without an added wetting agent and/or adhesion-reducing agent.
