Abstract

1,209,445. Cable clamps. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. 11 Dec., 1967 [28 Dec., 1966], No. 58015/66. Heading H2E. When a cable 2 is clamped between jaws 13 of a strain-relieving cable clamp, movement of the cable 2 relative to the jaws 13 and movement of the jaws 13 relative to a support 10, fixed to an electrical connector 1 is prevented. As shown, this is achieved by clamping screws 17 which pass through clearance bores in lugs 18 of the support 10 and threaded bores 16 in the flanges 15 of jaws 13. Movement of the jaws 13 relative to the support 10 is also prevented by four integral guide rods 10a of the hollow cylindrical support 10, which engage fins 12 of the jaws 13 and by the lugs 18 which bear upon surfaces 19 of the jaws 13. In another embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown), the cylindrical support 10 is replaced by two parallel support lugs which engage forked portions on the outside of two clamping jaws, screws passing through threaded bores in the support lugs to bear against the jaws and clamp a cable therein. In yet another embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown) a cable is clamped between two parallel support lugs by two jaws, above and below the lugs, screwed individually on to the lugs.
