Abstract

1276187 Coil springs DANFOSS AS 2 July 1969 [10 July 1968] 33463/69 Heading F2S The force which a coil spring 8 exerts on a member 2 is adjusted by a screw 13. The spring has sections 9, 10 each of constant diameter, the section 9 being oflarger diameter and larger pitch than the section 10, and the free end of each section being formed with an abutment portion 11, 12. Normally the section 10 clamps the adjusting screw 13. However, on rotation of the screw in either direction one or other of the abutment portions 11 and 12 registers with a corresponding abutment (i.e. on the member 2 or a housing 1). Continued rotation of the spring then increases the diameter of the section 10. The clamping action of the spring ceases and allows the screw to be moved in or out as the case may be to alter the force of the spring on the member 2.
