Abstract

1,207,172. Selective printing. ANKERWERKE A.G. 21 Sept., 1967 [2 Dec., 1966], No. 42923/67. Heading B6F. [Also in Division B8] A voucher is fed to a printing position in a book-keeping machine by feeding the voucher past the printing position and reversing the direction of feed, the voucher engaging a front stop defining the printing position. The voucher is inserted in a funnel 12 between an upper plate 1 and lower plates 2, 3, and is detected by feelers 25a, 26a which are linked to stops (31, 33), Figs. 1, 4 (not shown), permitting the voucher to continue only if it is sufficiently wide to actuate both feelers. The voucher is driven by a roller 15 co-operating with an oblique pressure roller 20 which urges the voucher toward a side guide (4, Fig. 1). The drive is taken up by rollers 15a, 15b and 15c to drive the voucher to the back of the apparatus where it trips a feeler 145 and abuts a back stop (5, Fig. 1). The rollers 15-15c are driven by a motor 40 through friction clutches (Fig. 6, not shown). The drive to the rollers 15-15c is reversed and the voucher is driven to the printing position between type wheels 9 and an impression hammer 11, where it is stopped by a front stop 136 reciprocated vertically by a cam 83, driven by the printing machine drive through a shaft 85. The voucher is held in place by a button 111 actuated by a cam 82. After a printing operation, the button 111 and stop 136 are retracted and the voucher is driven to a delivery shoot 63, deflected by a flap 98 operated by a cam (81), Fig. 2 (not shown). Further cams operate a detector 126 which locks the printing mechanism if the voucher is too short, and the drive reversal mechanism. The feeler 145 trips a switch 144 for initiating the drive to the shaft 85, and a lever 108, which operates the button 111, also actuates a switch 78 which controls the motor 40. On absence of a voucher at the printing station, the button 111 overtravels and causes printing to be prevented.
