[Also in Division F1] The forward stroke (L) of a piston 4 and rod 3 is effected by compressed air admitted to an annular chamber 5 whilst the return stroke (A) is effected by a spring (not shown) and is damped by oil having been drawn during the forward stroke from a reservoir through an inlet 16 and a fixed axial duct 15 into a cavity 13 formed within a tube 12 within and secured to the rod 3 and which oil during the return stroke is forced past an annular restriction formed by the tapering exterior of duct 15 and a piston 14 secured to tube 12 and slidable within a fixed tube 7 surrounding tube 15 and having an output 16.
