Abstract

1,206,091. Bulk storage tanks. CHICAGO BRIDGE & IRON CO. 28 Jan., 1969 [4 March, 1968], No. 4702/69. Heading E1T. A circular, bulk storage tank for liquids consisting of a series of metal courses of rings interconnected as 'by welding in superimposed relationship is reinforced about its lowermost portion by an encircling band 90 which .may, if desired, be prestressed whereby the thickness of the lowenmmost ring 93 may be reduced relative to conventional designs in accordance with mathematical desiderata given in the Specification. The tank may be made. of steel or aluminium and the reinforcing .bond consist of an encircling T-section bond or one of laminated construction, see Figs. 8 and 10 (not shown), respectively.
