In a nuclear reactor pressure vessel, the precast concrete units 1 and 7 are urged into engagement along the lateral surfaces 4 by the circumferential reinforcement 11. An access end opening is formed of members 12 and steel lining 13. Longitudinal stressing may also be applied to the vessel.
