Abstract

1,206,018. Straightening. COMPAGNIE DES ATELIERS ET FORGES DE LA LOIRE (St. Chamond Firminy, St. Etienne, Jacob-Holtzer). 12 Feb., 1968 [9 March, 1967], No. 6741/68. Heading B3E. An apparatus for straightening metal strip 1 under tension to remove transverse camber comprises deflection rollers 12, 13 and a smaller roller 7, which is movable into position to engage the strip between and on the opposite side thereof to the rollers 12, 13. The strip 1 is tensioned by rollers 2-6 and 21-25. The smaller roller 7 is supported by rollers 8 trunnioned in a beam 9, which is pivoted at 11 to allow vertical adjustment of the roller 7 by an eccentric 10. After passing over the deflection roller 13, the strip 1 is passed over a similar roller assembly 14, 19, 20. The pivot shaft 18, the shaft of the eccentric 17 and the shafts of the deflector rollers 12, 13 are mounted in a movable block 32 to allow rapid opening of the roller assemblies.
