Abstract

Non-metallic elastic bodies; tread surfaces.-A wide solid tyre is formed of separate units each comprising a rubber tread C on a metal band B which, when assembled on the wheel rim A have their adjacent rubber faces in intimate contact or actually united by rubber solution or vulcanization. The units, when used to form composite tyres, may be shaped to produce tread grooves D, Fig. 1, or a substantially flush surface as shown in Fig. 5.
