Abstract

1,205,888. Continuous casting. VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO - ISSLEDOVATELSKY I PROEKTNO-KONSTRUKTORSKY INSTITUT METALLURGICHESKOGO MASHINOSTROENIA. 22 May, 1968, No. 24405/68. Heading B3F. A rigid starter bar 4 of an arcuate path continuous casting machine is held (when not operative) by the side of the casting axis by a catch 2 engaging a recess 3 in the starter bar 4. In operation the starter bar is moved upward by rollers 8. As the catch 2, at the end of a lever 5 and urged by a counterweight 6, engages the recess 3, a limit switch (not shown) is actuated and the rolls 8 are stopped. The starter bar is released by operating an hydraulic cylinder 7 which tilts the lever 5 to disengage the catch.
