Abstract

1,203,907. Metal tubes. MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO K.K. 11 Feb., 1969, No. 7283/69. Heading F2P. A spiral multilayer pipe comprises an inner cylinder 2, a metal sheet 3 which constitutes the main spiral body of the pipe, and metal sheets 7-10 which collectively are at the most equal to the thickness of the main metal sheet and which are secured to an end of the main sheet to form a wedge. As shown, the pipe consists of the inner cylinder 2 the main spiral sheet 3, and an outer cylinder 4, wedges 5, 6 being formed at the inner and outer ends of the spiral sheet, and each wedge being formed of steel sheets 7-10 which are welded at 12 to the main sheet 3. The ends of the sheets 7-10 are tapered at A, each sheet being one fifth-thickness of the main sheet. In a modification, Fig. 4, not shown, each sheet (7-10) is of laminated form. The sheets 7-10 can be welded to an end of the sheet 3 either one at a time or, together as a pre-welded assembly.
