Abstract

1,203,882. Sheet-feeding; registration. DRUCKMASCHINENWERK PLANETA VEB. 23 April, 1968, No. 19165/68. Heading B8R. Sheet-feeding apparatus comprises a feed table 1, Fig. 3, front stops 3, means for bringing a sheet 2 against the front stops, means for aligning a lateral edge of the sheet, and a movable photo-electric device 7 which checks the register of the sheet after alignment of the front and side edges. In operation, the front stops 3 and top abutments 5 are swung into operative position and the sheet 2 is fed against the front stops while the preceding sheet (4), Fig. 1 (not shown), which overlaps sheet 2, is being fed by grippers into a subsequent machine (not shown). The sheet 2 is aligned against the front stops 3, and then the side edges are aligned by pulling means (not shown). The photo-electric device 7 is swung into operative position by pivotable lever 6, and, if correctly registered, light from transmitters 11 is reflected by sheet 2 into receivers 12; if incorrectly registered, or if no sheet is present, the receivers 12 are not activated, and the subsequent apparatus is stopped. Light is prevented from being reflected into receivers 12 from preceding sheet (4) by means of absorbent or reflective discs 14 also connected to lever 6.
