Abstract

1,203,633. Joint-making packing; pipe joints. D. W. & D. (BEAULIEU) Ltd. 5 April, 1968 [5 April, 1967], No. 15732/67. Headings F2B and F2G. A pipe joint sealing ring comprises an annular body 14 having a transverse flange 27 at one end and two outwardly diverging axially extending legs 16 and 17 at the other end, the outer surface 19 of leg 16 and the inner surface 20 of leg 17 being arcuate and having one or more sealing ribs 21 thereon. The legs are reduced in thickness at their junction with the body and, in use, are urged outwardly by their resilience with the ribs engaging the facing surfaces of the pipes 11 and 12; the ring being located axially by the flange 27 abutting the end of the outer pipe 12. The ring may be made from butyl rubber, neoprene or plastics material.
