Abstract

1,203,076. Iron ore sinter. STEEL CO. OF WALES Ltd. 3 Dec., 1968 [5 Sept., 1967], No. 40458/67. Heading CIA. Iron ore sinter or burden for a blast furnace is prepared by forming a mixture of fine iron ore, coke and one or more fluxes, moistening the mixture with water and then adding a proportion of iron oxide dust, mixing to effect micro pelletization of the mixture and thereafter effecting sintering of the mixture, wherein the added iron oxide dust has a particle size such that 50% by weight passes a 120 B.S. sieve. Preferably, the iron oxide dust is added to the mixture after moistening in an amount of from 7-30% by weight of the total weight of the mixture.
