Abstract

1,202,458. Rotary distributers. F. W. ARMYTAGE. 9 Nov., 1968, No. 53183/68. Heading H1N. A sequence controller for supplying a group of electrical impulses or signals in a desired sequence comprises a conducting rotary shaft 10 with a plurality of spring-loaded balls 32, each of which makes contact with the contact face of an annular conducting collar 34 mounted on a split insulating sleeve 38 integral with a handwheel 36, the key of collar 34 extending through the split in sleeve 38 to form the contact face. Collars 34 may be rotated by hand wheels 36 to the desired angular positions so that their contact faces are contacted in sequence by halls 32 on shaft 10. Collars 34 are set in their angular positions by spring-loaded balls 50 bearing in grooves 52 in collars 34 which also conduct the current to support-plates 46 holding collars 34 and sleeves 38 and which have connections 44 fastened to them. Shaft 10 is journalled in bearings 12 in supports 14 and current is conducted to shaft 10 from connection 20, through conductive plate 18 and spring-loaded carbon brush 22 bearing against the end of shaft 10. The left-hand end of shaft 10 is intended for connection to a drive such as a machine being controlled. Insulating spacers 54 are provided.
