Abstract

947,530. Pelleting mills. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Sept. 17, 1962 [Sept. 26, 1961], No. 34440/61. Heading B5A. [Also in Division B2] Apparatus such as a grinding or pelleting mill comprises a drum 1, Fig. 1, resiliently mounted on a support 2 by one or more rubber pads 6 and driven by a plurality of electromagnet 8 which are distributed around the axis of the drum with their armatures 9 coupled to the drum, the arrangement being such that sequential energisation of the electromagnets results in displacement of the drum in such a way that its axis describes a closed path. The electromagnets may be energized to produce an elliptical movement of the drum axis or by appropriate adjustment of resistances R1- R4, Fig. 3, in the control circuit, the axis may be given a circular movement. In an alternative energizing circuit, only two resistances are employed.
