Abstract

1,202,237. Foundations for spherical tanks. UDDEHOLMS A.B. 25 Aug., 1967 [25 Aug., 1966], No. 39197/67. Heading E1T. A spherical storage tank 3 of steel is supported on a concrete base 1 having a saucershaped supporting surface 3a contoured to conform with the corresponding surface of the tank when distorted under maximum loading conditions. The tank has a welded flange 6 seated in a recess 5 in the base 1 and an insulating layer 4 of rubber coated with graphite and a corrosion-inhibiting fat is disposed between the members 1, 3 as shown.
