Abstract

1,201,110. Light-sensitive multi-layer colour photographic element. FUJI SHASHIN FILMK.K. July 12, 1968 [July 18, 1967], No.33491/68. Heading G2C. [Also in Division C2] A multi-colour photographic element has on a support, at least 1) a red-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing as a cyanforming coupler a phenol derivative or an α- naphthol derivative, having at the para-position to the hydroxyl group thereof an iodine or a bromine atom, 2) a green-sensitive couplercontaining emulsion layer, 3) a blue-sensitive coupler-containing emulsion layer, and 4) an intermediate layer containing silver halide grains of photo-sensitivity such that they are not reduced in subsequent photographic development and positioned between the red-sensitive layer and the green-sensitive and/or the blue-sensitive layer. The intermediate layer traps the migrating bromide and iodide ions, released by the cyanforming coupler by its reaction with the oxidation product of an aromatic primary amine developing agent, thereby preventing the latter ions inhibiting development in the other layers. The silver halide incorporated in the intermediate layer may be silver chloride, silver bromide, silver chloro-bromide or silver iodobromide and the amount is usually between 1 x 10<SP>-6</SP> and 1 x 10<SP>-4</SP> moles per 100 sq.cm. of the colour photographic element.
