Abstract

1,209,814. Photographic silver halide materials. EASTMAN KODAK CO. March 7, 1968 [March 10, 1967], No. 11016/68. Heading G2C. Photographic silver halide compositions are sensitized with a compound of the formula R 4 P<SP>+</SP>Z<SP>-</SP> where R is a hydroxyalkyl or substituted hydroxyalkyl group and Z is an inert anion. Specified compounds are tetrakis (hydroxymethyl) phosphonium chloride and tetrakis (alpha-hydroxyethyl) phosphonium chloride. The composition may be an emulsion or vacuum-deposited silver halide and may include a developing agent and conventional addenda.
