Abstract

1,200,167. Two-part couplings. VEAM S.r.l. 9 Jan., 1969 [27 Jan., 1968], No. 1467/69. Heading H2E. A multi-polar electrical connector consists of two elements 1 and 2 adapted to be interengaged by being pushed together, one of said elements 1 being provided with helical grooves 15 in which projections 5 on the other element engage, wherein there is an annular dowel 17 made from non-oxidizable steel embedded in element 1 at the apex of the effective edge of each groove engaged by the projection, a portion of the peripheral face of the dowel forming part of said effective edge to mitigate wear of the groove. The dowel is secured in its recess by the pressure exerted by the peripheral face of the dowel against material of element 1 and by pressure exerted against the inner face of the annular dowel. The movable element 2 comprises a sleeve 3 on an abutment portion 3<SP>1</SP> of which a cup-spring 4 is supported and which carries connecting pins 5. Disposed in the sleeve 3, there is a sealing bush 10 provided with a core 6 which carries the receiving contact members 7 and a sealing ring 8. Formed on one end portion of bush 10 is a screw thread 9 to co-operate with another screw thread 9<SP>1</SP> formed in a sleeve 11 for establishing connection with a cable. A sealing ring 8<SP>1</SP> is placed between sleeves 10 and 11. The stationary element 1 contains a core 12 for containing contact pins 18 and is provided with a flange 13 having bores 14 for securing the element in the desired position.
