Abstract
1,199,817. Valves. KEROTEST MFG. CORP. 15 Oct., 1968, No. 48875/68. Heading F2V. A pressure relief valve comprises a closure member 68 loaded on to a seat 52 by an adjustably mounted spring 78, but held in the open position by a latch 108 secured by a frangible disc 36 disposed in the valve outlet 34, and subjected to the pressure in a container to which the valve is fitted acting via an inlet 22 and chamber 24. Excess pressure in the inlet 22 breaks the disc 36 to release the member 68 and relieve at a lower pressure governed by the spring setting. The latch 108 is formed by a ball 106 seating in a groove 104 of smaller diameter in a hanger 84 held in position by a rod 110 having a head 112 abutting the disc. The valve is assembled by placing the ball 106 in a bore 80 in the member 68, then lifting the member off the seat 52 by a jack fixed to the threaded portion 26, the jack having a rod that extends into a hexagonal receiver 74, rotating the rod to align the rod 110 with a bore 82 in the member 68, and fitting the disc in position by a nut 40.
