Abstract

Fibres, mixing.-The cotton to be mixed is fed by a number of lattices through bale breakers, or bale breakers and openers, into a mixer H, comprising a hopper, a feed lattice 1, a spiked lattice 2, and cooperating toothed beater 3 and stripper 4. When the whole of the fibre has been fed in, the mixer is put into operation. The fibre discharged from the mixer is raised from the delivery lattice 6 by a pair of vertical lattices EL and past a rotating roller 7 to a return lattice RL. Thence it passes down a trough RT to the mixer again. The fibre is thus circulated through the mixer until the operation is complete, when the direction of rotation of the roller 7 is reversed, and any fibre delivered is passed to a delivery lattice DL, which passes it to a cotton bin or direct to the next machine.
