Abstract
1,198,448. Mixing apparatus. WOOL INDUSTRIES RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. 4 Oct., 1967 [3 Nov., 1966], No. 49250/66. Headings B1C and B1Q. Soda-ash is supplied to the top of a V-shaped mixing vessel 11 and sinks to the bottom where liquid is introduced; solution overflows into a make-up tank 10, to which water is supplied until a valve 23 is closed by float 25. Liquid is circulated throutgh duct 12 from one side to the other of the bottom of tank 10 by pump 13, part 'being by-passed through duct 14 to the bottom of the mixing vessel 11. The supply of soda ash is discontinued by density float 15 when the solution in tank 10 reaches a predetermined concentration. Discharge is initiated by a float in a stock tank (not depicted) which closes valve 17, enabling pressure of the pump 13 to initiate discharge through the siphon 18, which continues after the valve 17 is reopened until stopped 'by the siphon breaker 19. Float 21 then initiates a new cycle by opening valves 17, 23.
