Locking nuts.-In means tor locking together screwed parts such as bolts and nuts, the nut &c. d carries a wire e with one end x pointed and the other end adapted to be sprung into a hole d<2> in the top of the nut to press the pointed end into engagement with the bolt threads and allow motion of the nut in only one direction. The nut may be completely locked by the use of a second oppositely-acting spring wire.
