Locking nuts and bolts.-A locking-device for nuts, bolts, screws, and studs, giving a fine adjustment, comprises a ring or cap f fitting over the nut b, on the bolt or screw head, and furr.ished with a ring of five serrations on its lower face fitting against similar serrations formed on the work e or on a lower washer. Fig. 9 shows a lower washer having projections i<1> to enter the work and ribs i on its face to engage the serrations. For use with wood, the serrations may be replaced by a row of spikes. The ring f may be held against end movement by a flat spring fixed at one end to the work or to the washer, and bent at the other end to engage an annular groove in the ring.
