Abstract

1,197,703. False twisting. MOULINAGE ET RETORDERIE DE CHAVANOZ. 3 Jan., 1969 [3 Jan., 1968], No. 589/69. Headings DID and D1F. False twist is imparted to yarn by causing the yarn to contact a rotating annular friction surface 22, guides 28 and 29 ensuring that the yarn contacts the surface with out passing through the opening defined by the surface 22, The friction surface is preferably formed by a ring of reinforced elastomer which internally lines an end recess of a rotatable spindle 19. A V-shaped member having two arms 26, 27 with the yarn guides 28, 29 therein is either pivotally or slidably mounted so as to move into a position where both yarn guides are outside the opening. Previous to false-twisting the yarn may pass through an oven 15 of keyhole cross section for setting crimp, the oven having a safety system wherebyin case of current failure a cover 13 pivots and a direction changing section 14 also pivots to space the yarn away from the oven. The yarn may then pass through a metal tunnel 17 also of key hole cross-section for cooling purposes before passing to the false twist device 16.
