Abstract

A rotatable metal false twist bush has a friction surface which is contacted by the yarn to impart false twist and which has a max. thickness of 2mm and Shore hardness of >=30, pref. 50-90 at ambient temp. Pref. the friction surface is of polyurethane rubber and the twist bush is used for treating thermoplastic yarn e.g. nylon, polyester. The bush may be in the form of a tube through which the yarn passes or a cup from which the yarn passes on the same side as it enters with the yarn being held into contact with the friction surface by a yarn guide. The friction surface is highly wear resistant and has a longer working life.
