Abstract

1,197,660. Oscillating motors. HATTORI TOKEITEN K.K. 30 Dec., 1968 [30 Dec., 1967], No. 61688/68. Heading H2A. [Also in Division G3] A magnetic driving mechanism, particularly for driving a time-piece, comprises a driven rotary member 3 having two sets of magnetic parts 10, 12, circumferentially offset and disposed on opposite sides of a magnetically neutral line 14, and a driving unit such as a forked element 7, 9, having at least three magnetic poles 15a, 15b, 15c disposed adjacent the driven parts 10, 12 and oscillated by, e.g., an electromagnetic device 16, 17, the arrangement being such that the respective magnetic forces exerted on the parts 10, 12 in the end positions of oscillation of the driving unit are unequal, whereby to cause self-starting unidirectional rotation of the driven member 3. In an alternative embodiment the magnetic parts 10, 12 are replaced by magnetic inserts 210, 212 (Fig. 8, not shown) in a synthetic resin wheel. A further embodiment includes a driven wheel comprising two superposed toothed discs, the teeth 310, 311 (Fig. 9, not shown) of which are circumferentially offset, and the driving unit is oscillated axially with respect to the driven wheel.
