Abstract

1,197,189. Container closures. A. CONTARDI. 30 June, 1967, No. 30296/67. Heading B8T. A snap-on closure, particularly for small monodose bottles, comprises a substantially cylindrical portion 10 closed at its upper end by a disc 10<SP>1</SP> of larger diameter, the parts 10, 10<SP>1</SP> being connected by a peripheral region 11 having a line of weakness 12 around all or part of its circumference. The closure is opened by tearing the disc 10<SP>1</SP> so that the cap cannot be reused. The inner surface of the portion 10 has grooves 14 designed to engage external annular ribs 15 on the neck of a bottle 16. The grooves and ribs may be of saw-tooth shape, Fig. 3 (not shown), and the disc 10<SP>1</SP> may have a tear-tag (23), Figs. 4, 5, 7 (not shown). Alternatively, Fig. 3 (not shown), a tag and a line of weakness may be provided on the part 10. In a modification, Fig. 8 (not shown), the cylindrical portion of the closure is in the form of a double wall (30, 31) for engaging ribs respectively on the outside and inside of the bottle neck. In another modification, Figs. 9, 10 (not shown), the under surface of the disc 10<SP>1</SP> is provided with an annular sealing bead of triangular cross-section.
