Abstract

1,195,722. Electric couplings. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 18 Jan., 1968 [25 Jan., 1967; 21 Aug., 1967], Nos. 3745/67 and 54048/67. Heading H2E. An electric cable connecting means comprises housings 1, 2 of insulating material and a plurality of electrical connectors, each connector having a screw 16 rotatably mounted in a bush 6 to engage with a nut 11, which is non- rotatably mounted, to clamp the housings together and provide electrical connection between cable clamps 15, 17. Clamp 15 is mounted on a metal strip 13 which is held between nut 11 and bush 6 while clamp 17 is held between screw 16 and bush 6. Flashover between adjacent connectors is avoided by means of fins (7), 12. Another embodiment is also described in which the screw 16 threads into a modified, captive, strip (110).
