Abstract

1,193,913. Jet pumps. GAS COUNCIL. Feb. 7, 1969 [Feb. 14, 1968], No.7279/68. Heading F1E. A jet pump, e.g. for use as a gas pressure booster, comprises a high-pressure gas duct 1 surrounded by a low-pressure gas duct 2, a ring of radial nozzle apertures 4 directing the highpressure gas under supersonic flow conditions into a gap 7 forming a mixing throat and diffusing chamber between circular dials 5 and 6, and lowpressure gas from duct 2 being entrained by the high-pressure gas. In a two-stage arrangement, Fig. 2 (not shown), the output flow from between discs 5 and 6 is entrained by high-pressure gas directed by a second set of radial nozzle apertures in an extension of duct 1, a second pair of discs providing a second stage mixing throat and diffusing chamber. Relative dimensions of the components are given.
